Montreal is the 2nd largest city in Canada and the 4th largest French-speaking city in the world (behind Paris, Kinshasa & Abidjan.) I didn't really know anything about Montreal except that it gets really cold in winter, with a lot of snow.
A good 2 hours north of Vancouver, along the most scenic Sea To Sky Highway, lie Whistler & Blackcomb, 2 mountains that make up one of the most renowned ski destinations & the largest ski resort in North America.
The resort hosted most of the 2010 Winter Olympics events.
Vancouver is the gateway to outdoor activities as it is surrounded by some of Canada's best nature.
But even if you're no great adventurer, this progressive & ethnically diverse city in western Canada and very close to USA's north border is worthy of a visit.
